HIFU Facial requires expert planning
There is no one-size-fits-all regime for HIFU Facial treatments. Your doctor should conduct a thorough assessment of your face and concerns before customising a treatment plan for you according to your face shape and desired outcomes. Different parts of your face will require different power settings, treatment depths and number of shots to be administered for optimum results. There should never be a fixed number of shots for everyone. An individual’s treatment plan can differ greatly from another.

Adequate number of shots used
The treatment area and concerns in these target regions will determine the number of shots required. It is essential that your doctor uses sufficient shots to achieve the best results. Areas with heavier volume or more fats will require more shots as compared to areas with less volume.

The power should be strong enough
HIFU Facial generates a high amount of heat of up to 72 degree celsius under the skin. This damages fat cells and stimulates collagen reproduction. The power of the ultrasound energy delivered therefore determines the degree of collagen reproduction and volume of fat reduction.

For volume reduction around double chin or jowls, strong power settings are required to generate heat of 68 to 72 degree celsius. This ensures that fat cells are damaged to achieve the desired lifting and slimming effect.

Pain management optimises your results
Pain management is essential for achieving significant results without compromising on comfort. This power and pain management and how we do it at Mizu is a very important part of the procedure.

While we apply topical numbing cream for all our patients and sometimes offer oral painkillers, we also use local anaesthesia to perform a nerve block to manage discomfort.

A nerve block is the injection of local anaesthesia to numb the face, like how a dentist will inject local anaesthesia to numb the gums before a tooth extraction. A nerve block greatly reduces any possible pain, which would allow us to perform the HIFU Facial at the optimum power setting for better results.

Hifu on your stomach, arms, flanks and belly fat
Hifu serves an effective body contouring treatment for large areas of the body, dissolving fatty cells and eliminating them from the targeted zones over time. A fantastic before and after from our own therapist across the belly, flanks and thighs.

Hifu on the face, neck, chin and décolletage

Hifu can help reduce the appearance of cellulite while reducing your thigh circumference. While we don’t recommend hifu as a weight loss treatment, the end result is tightened skin and cellulite reduction while unwanted lumps and bumps appear smoother and more defined.

Direct Sun Exposure
The sun's UV rays can be particularly harmful post-treatment, increasing the risk of hyperpigmentation and delaying the healing process. It's imperative to avoid direct sunlight and wear protective clothing along with applying a high-SPF sunscreen when outdoors.

Harsh Skincare Products
The skin is more sensitive and vulnerable after HIFU treatment. Using products with strong, active ingredients like retinoids, AHAs, BHAs, or physical exfoliants can lead to irritation and disrupt the skin's healing process. Stick to gentle, non-irritating skincare products until your skin has fully recovered.

Extreme Temperatures
Exposure to high temperatures in saunas, steam rooms, or even very hot showers can exacerbate swelling and redness and potentially alter the effects of the HIFU treatment. Keep your showers lukewarm and avoid extreme heat sources for at least 48 hours.

Avoid Drinking Alcohol and Smoking
Alcohol consumption and smoking can significantly impair your skin's ability to heal and regenerate. Alcohol dehydrates the skin, while smoking reduces blood flow, both of which can hinder the recovery process and negatively affect the outcome of your HIFU treatment. For optimal results, it's advisable to avoid these activities for at least a week following your procedure.

Vigorous Exercise
Intense physical activity can increase blood flow and lead to additional swelling in the treated areas. It's advisable to pause any high-impact workouts or activities that significantly raise your heart rate for the first 24 to 48 hours post-treatment.

Makeup and Heavy Skincare
Applying makeup or heavy skincare products immediately after treatment can clog pores and hinder the skin's ability to breathe and heal. Allow your skin a brief respite by keeping it clean and product-free for at least the first 24 hours.

Avoid Using Ice Packs
While it might be tempting to apply ice packs to alleviate any swelling or discomfort, doing so can interfere with the natural healing process initiated by the HIFU treatment. The heat generated by the ultrasound waves is a crucial part of the treatment's mechanism for stimulating collagen production, and cooling the area can diminish its effectiveness.

Avoid Scratching or Picking at the Skin
After HIFU treatment, your skin may feel tender or exhibit minor swelling. It's important to resist the urge to scratch or pick at your skin, as this can introduce bacteria, cause irritation, and potentially lead to scarring or infection.
